Disney and Marvel have given us our second trailer for the newest reboot to Spider-Man which is now nestled safely in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This incarnation of the wall-crawling superhero first appeared in Marvel’s Captain America Civil War where he joined Ironman’s team to help bring Captain America and his team of superheroes to justice. After the success of Civil War and Tom Holland’s performance of the iconic hero, we are getting a new Spider-Man film in the MCU.
The trailer gives us a great look at Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s relationship in the film and how Stark has helped Peter on his journey. A much different Stark is more of a serious mentor to Spidey, going so far as to reprimand him after Peter tries to stop some thugs and endangers many civilians. Stark must save Parker and confiscates his high tech costume leaving the Spider-Man wearing an outfit that looks similar to the Scarlet Spider outfit from the comics. We get a clearer look at the Vulture’s motives although he seems dangerously close to past Iron Man villains where he is just an evil variant of the hero.
The tone of the film seems like a great choice for the character that is already on his second rebooted film franchise. The trailer seems like it would be more fitting for a second or third installment for the new Spider-Man but a great choice for his first entry into the MCU.
Spider-Man Homecoming debuts on July 7, 2017 starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Michael Keaton as the Vulture.
