The Pokemon Company announced that the latest season of their anime will be premiering on Disney XD on May 12. Pokemon the Series: Sun and Moon is a continuation of the 20 year old show for the newest generation of games: Pokemon Sun and Moon. The new series takes place in the region of Alola, a tropical string of islands heavily based off of Hawaii. The series will follow the ageless series protagonist, Ash Ketchum, in his adventures as he meets new characters and new pocket monsters. Team Rocket makes a return, but they will face competition from the hoodlums known as Team Skull.

The first two episodes will air on May 12 at 9 p.m. and the third episode will air May 13 at 9 a.m. with subsequent episodes airing every Saturday at 9 a.m. Following the third episode, Disney XD will be airing Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel! at 5 p.m.
Disney acquired the rights to distribute the anime last year. The deal between Disney and the Pokemon Company allows Disney to air the newest season, several animated movies and the previous seasons of the show.
The series has been out in Japan since November 2016, but this premiere will mark the start of the show with English voice-acting. The first two episodes were also shown in a preview last December and are currently available to be viewed in English. Since then, fans of the anime had to either watch the show in Japanese or wait until the show was broadcast in English. Thankfully their wait is almost over.
