Shenmue 3 Kickstarter Page Updated, Xbox One And Other Versions Might Be Added As Reward
The announcement of Shenmue 3, the new entry of the series created by Yu Suzuki launching on PlayStation 4 and PC on a yet to be confirmed release date, has been one of the more surprising ones this past E3 2015. Fans of the series have been asking for a third game of the series for years and with SEGA going through so many troubles, not many hoped to see the game getting released anytime soon.
The Shenmue 3 announcement ended up disappointing some gamers, as the new game from Yu Suzuki has only been confirmed for PlayStation 4 and PC. However it looks like there’s still hope for an Xbox One version of the game.
The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter page has been updated earlier today with answers for a few frequently asked questions. Among the questions is one about the release of the game on other platforms, which is descrived as not decided as of now.
“Currently we are planning development only for PC (Windows) and PS4. Other platforms have not been decided yet. If other platform versions were added as rewards, an announcement would be made on the update page.”
While specific platforms haven’t been mentioned, it’s clear that an Xbox One version would be one of them. Releasing the game on Microsoft’s most recent console would make quite a bit of sense, considering the second Shenmue game has also been released on the original Xbox.
The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter campaign has been launched right after the end of Sony E3 2015 conference, where a new trailer of the game has been shown. The campaign’s goal of 2$ million has been reached in less than 24 hours, showing how gamers are thirsted for a new entry of the series.
Shenmue 3 will be the direct sequel of Shenmue 2 and will follow Ryo Hazuki once again as he searches for his farher’s killer. The game is being developed at Neilo, featuring a team composed of key members of the original team. Gameplay details are scarce at the moment but we should hear more about them soon.
