Splatoon 2 has been finding a lot of leaks through data mining. It’s been heavily used to find out any and all upcoming changes to the game. However, there is one aspect that nobody expected to find through this method that made everyone surprised. The sequel to the popular shooter on the Wii U is seemingly going to get a competitive mode according to one of the data miners.
This comes from a Reddit user named OatmealDome. Who found out about the leaks alongside his partner data miners. The new ranked mode will be called “Rocket mode”, which will be similar to Rainmaker. The reason why this is a ranked mode is that the name of the variable starts with “V”. Which stands for “Victory”, one of the Ranked mode’s internal names.
Now, the “Rocket mode” seems to be a provisional name and still in experimentation. Considering that the data miners also found a scrapped game mode called “VictoryBall”. With a test version of The Reef to see how the game mode would work. Apparently, the game would have a ball sitting in the middle of The Reef’s bridge which can be seen below.
There really isn’t much else to talk about besides the fact that this datamining does NOT confirm anything. This could be a simple test for future updates in regards of both game modes and “Rocket” could just be another scrapped project as well. So don’t take any of these at face value.
