Ten amazing Linux games you can play without WINE

Ten amazing Linux games you can play without WINE

Slime Rancher

You may, or may not have, heard of Slime Rancher. If you are imagining a game where you run around herding unreasonably cute slimy balls into pens and then harvesting their ahems emissions after they eat? Then you’ve probably already played slime rancher.

It’s a really unique game with an incredible art style. It is still in development but it is already well polished and I’d say it is worth diving into it now, they recently added “slime science” and the game looks set to expand even further from there.

It’s had Linux support from the beginning and it is one of the most unique games I’ve ever played.

Paradox Interactive Games

Paradox has released all of their newest games on Linux, so you can play strategy greats like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings II and their newest IP Stellaris, which is an incredible 3X game with a grand strategy twist.

All of these Paradox games are Grand Strategy and have a focus more on telling the story of the rise and fall of empires and dynasties. Whether you want to guide your Dynasty through the medieval period, bring your people through the enlightenment unscathed, try to get your people through the 2nd World War unscathed or lead your species into the stars, Paradox has you covered.

Their games are all pretty deep and come with the risk of consuming all of your free time.

This is just a small taste of what is out there and works with Linux out of the box. There are many, many more that I did not even get the chance to mention but that I would strongly recommend you take a look at. There is already a great library of games that run on Linux out of the box and that list is only going to get longer.

There has never been a better time to jump in and give Linux gaming a go. You never know, you

might even find that you don’t need windows anymore.

You'll find me wandering around the Science sections mostly, excitedly waving my arms around while jumping up and down about the latest science and tech news. I am also occasionally found in the gaming section, trying to convince everyone else that linux is the future of the computer gaming.
