The new Samsung smartphone star is the Samsung Galaxy S6 and we will see a bit if it’s worth for you to upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy S5. Software differences are minor but what’s really interesting is related to hardware profiles. As far as the processors are concerned, the Galaxy S6 has an Exynos 7420 CPU and 3 GB of RAM, while the S5 has a Snapdragon 801 with Adreno 330 GPU and only 2 GB of RAM. The main difference between the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S6 is when it comes to design and it is not insignificant. There are differences in the display resolution as well, although the screen size remains the same, 5.1 inches. The screen resolution on the Galaxy S6 has now evolved from full HD to Quad HD. Also, the internal storage options and upgrades differ from one version to the other.
When we talk about design, the Galaxy S5 has a well known glam look. Its back cover and the soft plastics are somehow not in today’s trend. The glass and aluminum body of the Galaxy S6 is very attractive and nice to touch. The look is better for the Galaxy S6, that is for sure. It is a point where the Galaxy S6 won the battle with the Galaxy S5 incontestably. The S5 is far heavier while the Galaxy S6 is more substantial because of its material choices. The buttons have a better mechanic for the S6 and the fingerprint sensor is much easier to use, not to mention more accurate. The Galaxy S6 design is much more beautiful and modern, but some people might consider it too gimmicky.
The older Samsung phone resists better due to its more lasting battery. S5 is rated IP 67 for dust and water resistance while the S6 is not. Camera is still the same, 16 MP, but to the Galaxy S6 Samsung brought an optical stabilization feature and improved software. Newer phone, newer features, more points for the S6.
Galaxy S5 deals are still very competing because S5 has better varieties for those who do not like the Galaxy S6 fir various reasons. Galaxy S5 Active variety has a better water resistance than standard S5, supporting extreme temperatures, high humidity and can fall up to 4 feet onto hard surfaces. The Galaxy S6 also has its better variety and the best looking handset, Galaxy S6 Edge, which can rival against the iPhone and all the Android competition.
Galaxy S6 price can start from $200 and can go up to $300 and more, and that’s with a two-year contract. Galaxy S6 Edge price can start from $400 and can go up to $859 with contracts and more. The S6 is a premium smartphone with a premium design that is worth buying by those who want something very good to best, something that can rival the iPhone 6 in design and performance. The upgrade can be worth it, but that depends on your expectations and on your lifestyle.
