Agents of Mayhem Trailer: Saints Row A-Team Special

Agents of Mayhem Trailer: Saints Row A-Team Special

April 3, 2017

Volition has made a name for itself with loud and ludicrous games, such as Saints Row The Third and Saints Row IV, and if the trailer is any indication, Agents of Mayhem will continue that tradition.

The Agents of Mayhem trailer has fun with itself, as we have come to expect from trailers for Volition’s games. The video apes The A-Team, complete with  the opening narration and intro-music. And just when you think the trailer is done with references, it plays the Knight Rider theme and shows a talking car.

The trailer is not all references though; the video spends most of its time showing off the titular Agents of Mayhem and their abilities, including but not limited to a Yakuza assassin, a giant Russian man with ice powers (thankfully he does not make ice puns…yet), a ninja, a movie star, and a member of the 3rd Street Saints, i.e., the protagonists of the Saints Row franchise. As it turns out, Agents of Mayhem is supposed to be a sequel to the Saints Row franchise and takes place after (warning: incoming spoiler) Earth is recreated in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell.

The trailer also provides a decent amount of gameplay. Apparently, players can assemble squads of up to three characters and switch between them on the fly. Furthermore, the hectic and fast-paced action is reminiscent of the Crackdown franchise.

If Agents of Mayhem is anything like its trailer, it will be a loud and enjoyable romp through a vibrant, semi-futuristic world. We will just have to wait until August to find out when the game launches on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

All you have to do to get my attention is talk about video games, technology, anime, and/or Dungeons & Dragons - also people in spandex fighting rubber suited monsters.
