7 years, it’s the amount of time we have been seeing the incredible deals and Bundles made by the popular website Humble Bundle. Which has become the greatest spot for gamers to find great deals in games. It, alongside the Humble Store, have become part of the gaming community, with the noble cause of raising money for charities along the world.
Since the debut they made in 2010, we have seen a lot of games come and go at outrageous prices as low as 1 dollar. However, now it’s a time to celebrate due to the fact that the company has actually raised over $100 million dollars. All of this money was headed to help charity organizations like Child’s Play, the American Red Cross, the EFF, and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières.
It seemed like a horrible idea at first, I might add. Giving away a few indie titles like World of Goo, Braid, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Penumbra: Overture and many others with just one dollar or more? It seemed like a system that many people would exploit to get as many free games as they can. However, it seems like the amount of generosity far outweighs the selfishness of people.
“We remember delivering the first check to charity by hand and it was a larger amount of money than anything we had ever seen before.” Said the Co-Founder and COO John Graham. “This milestone is more than 500 times bigger than that and is almost too big for me to really comprehend. We’re forever grateful to the Humble community and this huge positive impact they have made on the world.”
It seems like yesterday when I paid for my very first humble bundle service back in 2014. Paying 10 dollars for a few games like Dust which became some of my personal favorites. We can only hope that Humble Bundle and the millions of people who keep supporting it continue to help multiple charities across the globe.
