A few hours ago some people were surprised at an unusual sight ahead. The acclaimed Run n’ Gun game Cuphead that came for Xbox One and PC had an App Store iOS version. However, this wasn’t a port made by Studio MDHR but a group of opportunistic lowlife scumbags willing to cash in the popularity of the game.
The game itself was an unplayable mess. The game is a straight lift of Cuphead, which is given a virtual joystick and buttons (which are often obscured by the artwork on the screen). This basically brings the experience where even the easiest bosses are incredibly hard to get by.
Not only that, but it’s also a port riddled with issues on a technical standpoint. This $4.99 USD game had a lot of performance issues and crashed constantly. Not only that but it also had some graphical glitches like the one pictured below:
Studio MDHR soon caught wind of the issue and they addressed in an e-mail to a fan that this was, indeed, a scam. This has been provided by a concerned fan from Germany on Twitter.

Soon enough, by the time this article is being written, Studio MDHR took the awful port down from the iOS App Store. They also tweeted about the ordeal so their fans got a better gist of the current standing on the issue:
There is a Cuphead imposter app on the iOS store — this is a scam. We are working on removing the fraudulent app ASAP!

Not only that but this is nothing new in the eyes of the bogus developer. Benjamin Mayo, an iOS developer from the U.K., found that the website included on the listing of the game was a forgery. Not only that but this was a repeat offender for getting popular game ports listed on the iOS App Store.
The person behind Cuphead is a repeat offender. I WHOIS looked up the domain and found two more cloned websites of other games touting not-legit iOS ports.

This isn’t the first case of a popular game being put illegally on the App Store and it certainly won’t be the last. I’m more concerned about Studio MDHR’s output regarding the fake games based on Cuphead that still plague the Android and iOS App Stores. These need to stop and die before they hurt anybody.
