Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain, the latest entry of the series developed by Hideo Kojima and his team now available in all regions on consoles and PC, is filled with secrets and easter eggs. The search for these secrets has brought players to thoroughly check the files of the PC version, leading them to the discovery of the Chapter 3 image.
Even before the discovery of the Chapter 3 image, we knew that content was cut from Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. Among the cut content is a final episode called Episode 51 which gives closure to one of the unresolved plot points of the game. An incomplete version of the episode with work in progress cutscenes has been included in the PlayStation 4 Collector’s Edition extra disk so players have still been able to experience the episode in some form. Despite the episode not being available in the game, it’s been discovered earlier today that some content related to it is still included in the game.
Reddit user MGRGXY has found a cassette tape that’s related to the Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain cut Episode 51. The tape is the same briefing dialogue between Miller and Venom Snake seen in the Collector’s Edition video but with the proper sound effect all the other tapes of the game have at the beginning. The tape includes some heavy spoilers so avoid listening to it if you haven’t completed the game yet.
As mentioned above, there are still Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain secrets that have yet to be discovered. Earlier this week a new cutscene has been found, a cutscene that’s most likely tied to the Nuclear Disarmament Ending which has been discovered through data mining the PC version of the game. No one has found out how to trigger the cutscene and the ending yet but more on the matter is surely going to come in in the future.
