New Paranoid Android ROM is out and about

New Paranoid Android ROM is out and about
John Cusack
February 2, 2015

If you’re a fan of Paranoid Android custom ROMs, you might be happy to hear that a new one is out! Customizing an Android phone is one of the favorite things of a smartphone enthusiast, and Paranoid Android is one of the best ways you can do that. The custom ROM has gone down in history many times as the best custom ROM you can get, surpassing even the popularity of CyanogenMod. Now, the team have announced that Paranoid Android 5 Alpha 1 is out and about and it is based on the brand new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

You need to be a bit of a seasoned smartphone user or a developer to feel comfortable around custom ROMs, but if you’re eager to learn more about customizing your phone’s software, Paranoid Android will help you out. Currently, the custom ROM is only available for a handful of Nexus devices as well as the OnePlus One, Oppo Find 5 and the Oppo Find 7, but more devices are to be added soon. Since it is an Alpha ROM, you won’t find too many features to play with, but the Paranoid Android team have promised to keep improving and perfecting the ROM. “Lollipop has changed almost everything, and we must think with a different mindset in order to create new features that can provide meaningful improvements over stock while following material design. We’re on it, so don’t worry. Our sauce will have new spices soon enough”, according to the team.

Beware, though because an Alpha build might be a bit buggy and hard to use, but it still comes with quite a few neat features you can use and hey, it’s Lollipop. People have been yammering on about Android Lollipop for quite some time and Paranoid Android fans haven’t had the chance to get a new ROM for three months now, but the wait was worthwhile. If you’re not familiar with Paranoid Android, you can check out instructions on how to install their newest custom ROM on their official blog. You can also download the custom ROM you need from their official website.

Paranoid Android is one of the best custom ROMs you can get out there and it offers up a lot customizability and fun features that you can play with. If you’re the kind of person who hasn’t fiddled with flashing, rooting and things like that, it might just be the perfect time to start learning about it. Once you get into it, you won’t regret. Who doesn’t want a device that completely reflects their preferences? Go ahead and try Paranoid Android 5 Alpha 1 if you’re bold, or you can choose from the other custom ROMs they have available for your device. If you can’t find your device, be sure to check out the Legacy section on their website, maybe you’re lucky enough to find something there.
