Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 now has a page on the Steam store. The page shows some very creepy screenshots as well as the trailer that was released for the game last week. With the Steam page comes the first official description of Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 from creator Scott Cawthon. The fourth instalment in the Five Nights At Freddy’s series will take place at a child’s home, as opposed to a pizzeria or tourist attraction.
“This time, the terror has followed you home,” the description reads. “In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy’s original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6 am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you.”
The text confirms that in Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 you will play as a child, something fans had suspected based on the recent teasers. Presumably the child visited Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria and the animatronics, for some reason, followed him or her home. Based on the teasers Cawthon has released over the past few months, it’s likely this child will be the subject of the Bite Of ’87, the incident in which one of the animatronics bites a child, forcing the closure of the original restaurant.
The Steam description also describes the gameplay. “You have only a flashlight to protect yourself. It will scare away things that may be creeping at the far end of the hallways, but be careful, and listen. If something has crept too close, then shining lights in its eyes will be your end.” So it seems the flashlight mechanic from the second game is back, but with a twist.
We also have the system requirements for Five Nights At Freddy’s 4. Interestingly, the game requires 1 gigabyte of disc space, which is four times more than what the three previous games required. This may mean multiple locations can be explored in the fourth game, which is another thing fans have been gossiping about since the release of the trailer.
Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 releases on PC on August 8. It was bumped up from its original release date of October 31 to celebrate the anniversary of the first game. Check out the trailer below.
